Peter Phelps rips off Berlusconi's material

Peter Phelps, a senior member of the staff of Special Minister of State Gary Nairn, the MP for Eden-Monaro has hit the headlines for comparing a decorated Australian officer who has served in Iraq, East Timor, Kenya, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia to a Nazi camp guard from Belsen.
Phelps, who has since apologised, knows his comments were neither big nor clever.
They were also rather unoriginal in that they echo the jibes made by the virtual owner of Italy – Silvio Berlusconi – who dubbed a German MP as being like Schultz from Hogan’s Heroes, sparking a near international incident. That case is documented in the bestselling PR text by McCusker, ‘Public Relations Disasters’.
