There’s a kind of neat irony in watching a chubby inebriate, shirt tail hanging out, leap onto an awards ceremony stage then manhandle and berate a sober presenter for being ‘a disgrace’ (thanks for uploading footage Trev). Not that this is the first time, either; the Walkleys has a reputation for staging bloody punch-ups that reinforce the stereotype that many journalists are drunks with colossal ego-sensitivity. Maybe that’s why they don’t like PR types who occasionally mirror that exact same behaviour? Anyhow, let’s watch the spin that’s put on this reputation-denting farce.
Always read the label – whether it’s your headache tablets or the booze you’re throwing back. Milne has now apologised (15hrs on), blaming a mix of migraine tablets and alcohol. That’s the responsibility and regret part of crisis response. But where’s the remedial action to really help ensure that all affected (and Glenn himself) really get over this conduct unbecoming?
